Employment contracts of foreign language teachers without a B2 certificate may be terminated

A proposal has been made in Uzbekistan to terminate the employment contracts of foreign language teachers who do not hold a B2-level language certificate. A draft resolution regarding this matter has been submitted for public discussion.
According to the draft, employment contracts with teachers working in general secondary, secondary specialized, and vocational educational institutions—who do not possess the required B2 certificate or an equivalent qualification—may be terminated in accordance with current legislation.
The draft is currently open for public discussion until August 12. The resolution has not yet been adopted.
Under current regulations, foreign language teachers have been granted a deadline until the start of the 2026/2027 academic year to obtain the B2 certificate.
