Today, on August 15, the working visit of President Emomali Rahmon to the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region began.
The trip began with a visit to the Darvaz region. The head of state got acquainted with the work on the repair and restoration of the Kalai Khumb-Vanj highway, the border of the Rushan region, the presidential press service reports.
Restoration work on this road began at the end of September 2021. The project provides for the repair of 109 km of the Darvaz-Vanj road. It is expected that after the reconstruction the length of the road will be reduced by 16 km to 92.3 km.
It will have 15 road bridges, as well as two tunnels with a length of more than 5 km.
Also in Darvaz, Emomali Rahmon took part in the opening ceremony of the "Musicians' Square", which was created in memory of famous representatives of the country's culture and arts at the entrance to Darvaz. Monuments of People's Artists of Tajikistan Akasharif Juraev and Abdullo Nazri, as well as the Tajik-Persian musician Borbadi Marvazi are installed on the square.
