Emomali Rahmon, within the framework of the first Summit of the States of Central Asia and the Arab countries of the Gulf in the city of Jeddah, met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with whom a wide range of issues of cooperation, friendship, brotherhood and good neighborliness of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were discussed, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

The President of Tajikistan expressed satisfaction with the current state and level of relations between the two states, with the measures taken by the governments to deepen ties.

The parties discussed the state of relations between the two countries, both at the bilateral level and within the framework of regional and international organizations.

It was emphasized that the participation of the two countries in the first Summit of the states of Central Asia and the Arab countries of the Gulf can serve the interests of the states.

On the same day, on the sidelines of the summit, a meeting was held with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Emomali Rahmon called this meeting another good opportunity to discuss the current situation and prospects for friendship and cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, his press service reports.

Confidence was expressed that the consistent implementation of previously reached agreements between the two countries will contribute to the deepening of the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

In this regard, the parties discussed the preparations for the upcoming bilateral and multilateral regional and international joint events.

The heads of state exchanged views on more effective use of all opportunities for the successful holding of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan in August, as well as high-level events - the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia and the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State - Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
