Elephants form a "protective circle"

A curious incident occurred at the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park during the 5.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Southern California on April 14. Elephants formed a "protective circle" during the quake.
Park officials said the elephants' behavior is an ancient protective mechanism inherited from their ancestors.
