A meeting of the Coordinating Commission for coordinating the activities of state bodies (structures) in the field of ensuring the safe operation of potentially hazardous facilities was held.

It should be noted that on September 24, 2022, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a Decree on the establishment of a Coordinating Commission to coordinate the activities of state bodies (structures) in the field of ensuring the safe operation of potentially hazardous facilities. The regulation on the Commission was approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 18 this year. The regulation reflects the areas of activity, the rights and obligations of the commission, the organization of its activities.
At the first meeting of the commission, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Commission Shahin Mustafayev spoke about the upcoming tasks and measures to implement the order. The importance of the Decree of the President was emphasized, the current situation was analyzed, it was noted that an appropriate institutional system has been created in the country in the field of ensuring the safe operation of potentially hazardous facilities, a regulatory framework has been formed and the relevant central executive authorities are monitoring and regulating in this direction.
The great need was emphasized for taking preventive measures to prevent possible accidents during the safe operation of potentially hazardous facilities, conducting regular analyzes in the field of predicting future risks, especially in this direction, expeditiously and efficiently exchanging information between the relevant state institutions, coordinating their activities, as well as organizing effective planning and coordination work.
Based on all this, instructions were given regarding the organization of the tasks facing the Commission, effective coordination, preparation of its work plan for the current and subsequent years, creation of an Electronic Database (Portal) of potentially hazardous facilities, improvement of the current regulatory and legal framework with taking into account technical regulations and international best practices, as well as other upcoming work.
The meeting also considered organizational issues, presented the composition of the Secretariat of the commission, approved a working group of specialists in areas related to the activities of the commission - "Analysis and evaluation of the results of monitoring carried out at potentially hazardous facilities", "Coordination of activities towards the definition of technical regulations" and "Analysis and improvement of existing regulatory legal acts in the field of safe operation of potentially hazardous facilities, taking into account the best world experience", and other issues were discussed.
