El Niño could increase the risk of flash floods and flooding in Central Asia

The El Niño phenomenon developing in the Pacific Ocean is expected to intensify. The UK's Met Office has indicated that it could become one of the strongest El Niño events of the last 100 years.

Experts predict that a strong El Niño, combined with human-induced climate change, could make 2027 the hottest year on record.
