Egypt’s “Project of the Century”: The Grand Egyptian Museum Opens

In Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum — the country’s largest archaeological complex and one of the biggest museums in the world — has officially opened its doors after 20 years of construction. The project cost is estimated at $1 billion.

The museum houses over 50,000 ancient artifacts, covering millennia of Egyptian civilization. Among the most notable exhibits are the 3,200-year-old statue of Ramses II and the complete collection of Tutankhamun’s treasures, displayed in full for the first time in nearly a century.

The Egyptian government aims to turn the museum into a new cultural and tourist hub. It is expected that by 2030, the site will attract more than 30 million visitors.

The grand opening ceremony was attended by world leaders, royal family members, and prominent cultural figures.
Starting November 4, the museum will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
