Ebola death toll in Congo exceeds 100
At least 118 people have died in an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. More than 390 more are suspected of being infected, the BBC reported, citing local officials.
The virus is reportedly spreading to new areas of the country. Two cases and one death have also been reported in neighboring Uganda. The WHO has declared the situation a global emergency. There is no approved vaccine or drug for the current strain of Ebola.
Experts say Ebola is transmitted through bodily fluids and can cause severe complications, including organ failure.
