Today, on October 17, talks were held between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
During the conversation, urgent issues of further strengthening of Uzbekistan-China friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership were discussed.
Before the talks, the President of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated the President of the People's Republic of China on China Day and the tenth anniversary of the "One Place, One Road" initiative.
As noted, in recent years, the volume of Chinese investment has increased 5 times, and the number of enterprises has increased 3 times. Since the beginning of this year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 36%. This indicator is expected to exceed 10 billion dollars by the end of the year.
The leaders of the two countries agreed that there are all grounds to increase the volume of trade to 20 billion dollars in the next 5 years.
The heads of state also expressed their interest in expanding the portfolio of high-tech projects by jointly organizing the production of innovative products with high added value.
The President of Uzbekistan proposed opening branches of China's leading universities - Tsinghua University and Peking University in Tashkent.
They also exchanged views on regional agenda and current issues of international politics.
According to the results of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the adoption of the "roadmap" for the implementation of the initiatives put forward.
At the end of the negotiations, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Chairman of the People's Republic of China to visit Uzbekistan.
