Drug testing will be introduced for school students and university students in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, it is planned to introduce special tests to detect the use of narcotic substances among school pupils and university students. This was announced by Ismatjon Azizov, head of the Center for Drug Safety and the Committee for Drug Control. According to him, the checks will be carried out using locally produced rapid tests.

The new tests will be in the form of simple strips and will provide results within seconds using saliva samples. Currently, these tests are designed to detect 16 types of narcotic substances.

In addition, more advanced laboratory methods are also being developed. In particular, work is underway on devices that allow testing through hair samples. This method can determine whether a person has used drugs over the past 3–6 months and can even assess the amount present in the body.

At present, these devices are being registered with the Ministry of Health. If they successfully pass the testing phase, mass production is expected to begin in June. The new tests are planned to be widely implemented in schools and higher education institutions starting from September.
