Driver’s relatives assault traffic police officers in Surkhandarya

A criminal case has been opened against individuals accused of resisting traffic police officers in Surkhandarya region.

According to reports, on August 9, a man identified as T.U. was driving a Damas when he changed direction after noticing traffic police officers on the road. Officers followed the vehicle and stopped the driver near his home as he attempted to get out of the car and flee.

The officers reportedly noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath and attempted to take him for a medical examination. At that moment, the driver’s two brothers, wife and a neighbor arrived at the scene. They actively resisted the law enforcement officers and injured two of them.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
