Former U.S. President Donald Trump was charged with a fourth criminal case. This time, charges were brought against him in Georgia, where prosecutors believed Trump wanted to turn the results of the 2020 election in his favor. Trump is not pleading guilty to the three charges previously laid.
The Georgia State Attorney's office filed charges against former President Donald Trump. Fulton County Attorney Fani Willis noted in the indictment that the former president and other defendants in the case refused to admit defeat in the 2020 elections and "joined the conspiracy to illegally change the election results in favor of Trump," Reuters reported, citing the indictment.
The indictment included a total of 41 indictments and 19 defendants, including former Trump White House Administration Executive Mark Medows and attorneys Rudy Juliani and John Eastman. They can be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, the agency notes. The indictment was prompted by Trump's phone call to Georgia Secretary of state Brad Raffensperger in January 2021. Trump had suggested that, according to prosecutors, he would help the Republican Secretary of state "find 11,780 votes".
Trump and his alleged accomplices, including perjury to legislators that the elections had been rigged, were accused of urging government officials to break their oath by amending the election results. Prosecutors also cited violations of the voting system and harassment of an election commissioner.
The conviction extended to the actions of the defendants in the case outside Georgia. It alleged that Trump advisers had called officials in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and other states to attempt to change the results of voting in those states.
Trump denies any wrongdoing and accuses Democratic prosecutor Willis of political motives. He had previously pleaded not guilty to three felony counts. On March 25, 2024, the state of New York will hold a trial on secret documents for allegedly paying actress Stormy Daniels, and on May 20, 2024, in Florida.
The third case – the date of the final trial on the attachment of a language to prevent confirmation of the results of the presidential election-has not yet been set, the next session will be held on August 28. Following statements by the special counsel in the latest case, Trump told his supporters that he could face up to 561 years in prison on charges brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, The Hill reported in early August.
Trump is 76 years old, he was president of the United States from 2017-2021. Trump also stated his intention to run as a Republican candidate in the 2024 United States presidential election. In the Forbes Real-time ranking, which is updated in real time according to quotes, Trump's wealth is estimated at $ 2.5 billion.
