Dinosaur fossils estimated to be 70 million years old discovered in Karakalpakstan

A group of Uzbek scientists has discovered dinosaur fossils believed to be around 70 million years old in Karakalpakstan.

The discovery was made through a joint research project conducted by scientists from Berdakh Karakalpak State University and specialists from the Uzbek State Geological Museum.

According to experts, the findings include vertebrae, leg bones, and other skeletal fragments belonging to what is likely a large herbivorous dinosaur species from the late Mesozoic era.

The fossils are currently being examined in specialized laboratories with the participation of international experts to determine the exact species and biological characteristics of the dinosaur.

Once the research is complete, the fossils will be transferred to the Uzbek State Geological Museum and presented to the public.

Scientists note that this discovery provides further evidence that dinosaurs once inhabited the territory of modern-day Uzbekistan, marking an important contribution to the study of the country’s geological and paleontological history.
