Death toll from Venezuela earthquake exceeds 2,000

The death toll from two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has reached 2,295. A seven-day period of mourning has been declared in the country in memory of the victims.
According to the latest data, more than 11,000 people have been injured, and nearly 13,000 have been left homeless. UN estimates indicate that approximately 50,000 people are missing.
The disaster was caused by two powerful tremors—measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude—that struck near Caracas within a span of 39 seconds. This was the strongest earthquake to hit Venezuela in the last 126 years.
Rescue operations are ongoing. A state of emergency has been declared, and the search for survivors beneath the rubble continues.
