Death toll from floods in Nepal rises
Severe mudslides and flooding occurred along the border between Nepal and China’s Tibet region, killing at least 165 people. More than 1,000 people remain missing.
The incident was initially believed to have been caused by a glacier collapse. Later, the U.S. Geological Survey reported that the collapse of rocks and ice from the glacier triggered a powerful mudflow.
The natural disaster damaged villages, roads, bridges and electricity infrastructure. Rescue teams continue searching for those who remain missing.
