Death from Nipah Virus Reported in Bangladesh

A woman infected with the Nipah virus has died in northern Bangladesh. According to reports, the patient developed symptoms on January 21, including fever, seizures, headache, and excessive salivation. She passed away a week later, and the diagnosis was confirmed posthumously.

Thirty-five people who had contact with the patient were placed under medical observation, and all tested negative. No new cases of infection have been reported.

According to the WHO, the mortality rate of the Nipah virus ranges from 40% to 75%. To prevent infection, it is recommended to wash fruits thoroughly and avoid unprotected contact with animals.
