Daniel Radcliffe does not want his son to become an actor
British actor Daniel Radcliffe, best known for his leading role in the Harry Potter film series, has said that he would not like his son to choose an acting career. He shared this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
Radcliffe emphasized that he hopes his two-year-old son will choose a profession that is not in the public eye. “I wouldn’t want my son to become an actor or a celebrity,” he said.
According to the actor, he personally enjoyed working on set. However, early fame was not an easy experience for him. Nevertheless, he noted that the “Harry Potter” team always took good care of the young actors. He also mentioned that his parents were very supportive.
“They managed to find the right balance: on the one hand, it was very special and exciting, but on the other hand, there was something quite strange about it,” he explained.
Radcliffe said he is often cited, along with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson — his fellow “Harry Potter” stars — as a good example. All three grew up, continued their careers, and managed to cope with fame. “Maybe that’s true, but we all worked very hard on ourselves to make sure things turned out well,” he added.
Earlier, Radcliffe also expressed concern about the young actors who will appear in the new screen adaptation of the “Harry Potter” novels. He asked people not to compare their performances with those of the original cast.
“This is one of those situations where we understand what others are feeling because we’ve been through it ourselves. When you see photos of these kids, you just want to go up and hug them. I think all of us feel that way,” the actor said.
