Damage of 7 billion soums was caused to 4 archaeological monuments in Surkhandarya

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, it was found that a part of the archaeological monument in Surkhandarya was destroyed and houses were built. A criminal case was initiated in connection with this situation.

It was reported that the prosecutor's office, in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Agency, is carrying out systematic control activities aimed at protecting historical monuments. During one such event, it was found that 4 archaeological monuments were damaged in Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region.

In particular:

888 million soums due to the cutting of 40 square meters of the "Tallagan Tepa" monument of the V-I centuries BC and the construction of a road;
4.7 billion soums due to the destruction of 200 square meters of the V-VIII century monument "Gorintep" and destruction of houses;
266 million soums due to the removal of 12 square meters of soil from the I-IV centuries monument "Khushvaqtepa" and the construction of a toilet;
Damage of 1.2 billion soums was caused due to the removal of 56 square meters of soil from the V-VII century monument "Toshtepa" and the construction of a barn.
In connection with the identified situation, a criminal case has been initiated against officials of the district administration and others, and preliminary investigations are being conducted.
