Crime that shocked Turkey: Student stabs teacher to death

On March 2, a 17-year-old student stabbed and killed teacher Fatima Nur Celik at the Borsa Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Istanbul. Another teacher who tried to stop him and a 15-year-old student were also injured in the incident. Fatima Nur Celik died in hospital, while the others are still receiving treatment.
According to reports, the student who committed the crime had been released from a psychiatric hospital two days ago and had planned the attack by studying the school schedule in advance to determine which class Fatima Nur would be in. The 17-year-old killer had previously been involved in other fights, and the deceased had spoken out about the student at a Disciplinary Committee meeting, warning that "our lives are in danger."
The incident has shocked Turkey. Classes at the Lyceum were suspended for a day, security measures were tightened, and teachers went on a one-day strike.
The student was taken into custody.
