Cows evacuated by helicopter

A herd of 52 cows had to be evacuated due to avalanches in the Blatten region of southern Switzerland. Local authorities arranged for a helicopter to transport them.
On Monday, May 19, Swiss authorities decided to completely evacuate a village of about 300 people and their livestock in the Alps due to the risk of falling rocks and the threat of avalanches. It is not yet known when residents will be allowed to return to their homes.
