Couple in Fergana jailed for attempting to sell their 1.5-year-old son for $35,000.

A married couple in the Toshloq district of the Fergana region has been sentenced to prison for attempting to sell their 1.5-year-old son for $35,000.
According to court documents, the couple, who were in debt and facing financial hardship, agreed to hand over their child in exchange for money. They arranged to sell the child for $35,000 and were apprehended while meeting the buyer and accepting the payment.
In court, the woman stated that she had planned to use $25,000 of the proceeds to buy a house and the remaining $10,000 to purchase a car for her husband. By court order, the man was sentenced to six years in prison, and the woman to five years. Their three minor children were placed in the care of a relative.
