International Children's Day was celebrated on June 1 in Ashgabat with various UNICEF events jointly with the Government of Turkmenistan and with the participation of a children's audience.
The collections of philatelists will be replenished with commemorative postage stamps dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by Turkmenistan. The commemorative series was a confirmation of the country's commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of every child. They were issued by the Turkmenaragatnashik agency together with UNICEF.
On the same day, the United Nations Children's Fund in Turkmenistan, together with the Ministry of Education, organized a special event for children in the form of interactive games, which was held at the UN building in Ashgabat. By participating in fun and educational activities and competitions, students learned a lot of useful information about their rights and the important role they play in shaping the future of society.
More than 60 schoolchildren and young SDG ambassadors took part in the action. They were invited to write letters to the children of the future, in which they would talk about their dreams and share their ideas about the new time. The messages were then framed and displayed prominently in the UNICEF office. These original capsules will be opened and read 10 years later by the young generation of 2033 and learn about the desires and hopes of the guys from the past.
On June 1, UNICEF representatives also took part in the annual conference dedicated to International Children's Day, organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. The forum was held in the capital's Scientific and Clinical Research Center for Maternal and Child Health, which brought together doctors from all over the country, including chief pediatricians and obstetrician-gynecologists from Ashgabat and regional centers. The participants discussed the most important topics of cooperation in the field of breastfeeding, early childhood development, immunization and other issues.
