China Enforces New Law Regulating Bloggers

China has officially implemented a new law tightening control over bloggers, aiming to prevent the spread of misinformation and unverified advice on social media.

From now on, bloggers who create content on health, finance, or law must hold a relevant university degree or a professional license. Those without proper qualifications risk fines or permanent account bans.

Key provisions of the new regulation include:
🔹 AI-generated content must be clearly labeled;
🔹 Platforms such as Douyin, Weibo, and Bilibili are required to verify bloggers’ credentials;
🔹 Bloggers spreading false or misleading information will face penalties;
🔹 Income and tax information must be publicly disclosed;
🔹 If AI filters are used in videos, viewers must be notified;
🔹 Displaying luxury cars, designer clothes, or lavish trips is now banned, as it may “set a bad example for youth.”

According to experts, this law reflects China’s efforts to tighten digital oversight, restore public trust, and push social media influencers toward a more professional and accountable media environment.
