China bans excessive homework to reduce pressure on students
Chinese schools are now banned from giving students excessive homework, conducting frequent exams and shortening recess periods. The measures are being introduced to improve students' mental and physical health and reduce pressure on them.
According to the new rules, schools cannot increase the workload, and teachers must not prevent children from leaving the classroom during recess.
The practice of conducting exams to select students and overly encouraging high results will also be restricted.
