Chess. Uzbek chess players face each other

Uzbek chess players achieved brilliant victories in the quarterfinals of the FIDE World Cup 2025, which is being held in Goa, India.
Nodirbek Yakubbayev defeated German Alexander Donchenko in classic games with a score of 1.5:0.5. Javahir Sindorov had a tense match with Mexican Jose Martinez. After the classic games ended in a draw, Javahir won in the rapid tie-break with a score of 3.5:2.5.
Now Sindorov and Yakubbayev will compete in the semifinals. This means that at least one Uzbek chess player will reach the final. It is worth noting that this is the first time in the history of Uzbek chess.
🏆 The FIDE World Cup does not determine the world champion, but the chess players who take the first three places will receive a ticket to the 2026 Candidates Tournament. This means that for the first time at least one Uzbek chess player will participate in this prestigious tournament. Considering that there will be a match for 3rd place, both chess players may be among the contenders.
📆 The semi-finals will be held on November 21-22. In the second pair, Andrey Esipenko (Russia) will test Wei Li (China).
