Central Asian national arrested in Russia over alleged terror plot

A 25-year-old citizen of a Central Asian country has been arrested in Russia on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack near a prosecutor's office building, according to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

The FSB stated that the suspect was a supporter of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia and had allegedly been preparing an explosive device under instructions from a handler based in Syria. Authorities claim that after carrying out the attack, he intended to travel to Syria and join the terrorist group.

During a search, officers reportedly seized components for assembling an improvised explosive device (IED), chemical substances, and shrapnel materials.
