On Sunday, at the Directors Guild of America Awards ceremony, the late actress Catherine O'Hara was honored posthumously. She received the award in the category “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series” for her brilliant portrayal of Patty Lee in the series Studio, according to the official awards website.

When her name was announced, the audience gave her a long round of applause. Her co-star from the series, Seth Rogen, went on stage to accept the award and delivered a heartfelt and warm speech.

“She knew she could outshine everyone and wanted to do it every day on set,” said Seth Rogen. He also noted that Catherine would have been deeply moved by this award and fondly recalled how her notes on the script always improved the material.

Catherine O’Hara passed away in January at the age of 72. The cause of death was pulmonary artery thromboembolism, and she had also been diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Catherine O’Hara left an indelible mark on film history. She became beloved by millions for her role as Kevin’s mother in the iconic film Home Alone.
