Cash will not be accepted on buses from next year

Minister of Transport Ilhom Mahkamov said that from January 1, 2025, Uzbekistan will abandon cash for bus fares and switch to a fully electronic payment system.
— It will be possible to buy a ticket or QR-code for cash at the stations. Information kiosks are installed at most stations. Now this experiment is being tested in the city of Tashkent. After they are installed, the conductors will naturally not work, the minister said.

He also mentioned that the Ministry is planning to buy 1,294 buses in the near future, that the main attention will be paid to the movement of electric buses in the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand, and that the number of buses will be increased to 5,000 by 2030.
