Cash transactions for housing and vehicle sales to be abolished in Uzbekistan

According to a presidential decree, starting from April 1, 2026, cash transactions for the purchase and sale of housing and vehicles will be abolished in Uzbekistan. The document also sets goals to reduce the share of the shadow economy by 1.3 times by 2030 and to increase the share of cashless payments in the trade and services sector to 75 percent.

From April 1, 2026, the following payments must be made exclusively via bank cards or electronic payment systems:

🔹 government services;
🔹 payments for electricity, gas, and drinking water;
🔹 alcohol and tobacco products;
🔹 fuel stations and electric vehicle charging services;
🔹 goods and services worth more than 25 million soums;
🔹 transactions involving real estate, as well as vehicles of categories M, N, O, and G and special equipment used for less than 10 years.

This decision aims to increase economic transparency and reduce the size of the shadow economy.
