Cars Can Now Leave Impound Lots Only with QR Code

Starting August 1, 2026, permits for releasing vehicles from storage areas will only be confirmed in the “Impound Lot” information system via QR code and sent electronically by the administrative and enforcement authorities. This procedure was established by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 358, which came into force on July 6. Within two months, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Tax Committee and the Ministry of Digital Technologies, will integrate the “Impound Lot” system with the tax authorities’ information systems. As a result, data on impound lot service providers, detained vehicles, their entry and exit times, and collected payments will be automatically generated in the tax system. If detained vehicles, their delivery and storage services, and payments are not recorded through the “Impound Lot” system, the service provider will face a fine equal to 20 base calculation units. If repeated within a year, the contract with the organization will be terminated. Additionally, releasing a vehicle without eliminating the reasons for its detention or using it illegally will also result in the same liability. Under the new procedure, the Tax Committee, together with the Central Bank, will within three months enable payments at markets and adjacent parking areas through a unified QR code.
