Caregiver prosecuted for abusing 90-year-old woman

A court verdict has been handed down against a caregiver who systematically beat a 90-year-old woman over the course of several months in Tashkent’s Mirzo Ulugbek district. It was revealed that the caregiver had been hired in October 2025. Believing there were no surveillance cameras in the restroom and taking advantage of the victim's inability to speak, she repeatedly assaulted the elderly woman. The abuse came to light on March 19, 2026, after family members, suspicious of their grandmother's unusual behavior, checked footage from hidden surveillance cameras. A forensic medical examination confirmed that the victim had suffered soft-tissue injuries to the head, a hemorrhage in one eye, and numerous bruises on her face and limbs.

During the trial, the defendant fully admitted her guilt, attributing her actions to fatigue. She was found guilty under Article 110 of the Criminal Code and sentenced to four years in prison.
