King Charles III of the United Kingdom hosted a banquet at Windsor Castle in honor of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman. During the event, the King acknowledged Oman’s efforts toward maintaining peace and recited a hadith—a saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—in Arabic.
This is not the first instance of Charles III using Arabic during official engagements; in December 2024, he welcomed the Emir of Qatar to Buckingham Palace in Arabic. It is also known that he studied the Arabic language back when he was still the Prince of Wales.
In his speech, Charles III also specifically touched upon the Strait of Hormuz and Oman’s diplomatic role. The banquet took place within the framework of the British monarch’s visit to Oman—the first such visit in 44 years.
