BTS members meet with the President of Mexico
Members of BTS — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — held a meeting with Claudia Sheinbaum ahead of their concerts in Mexico City.
Following the talks, the Mexican president shared a photo with the artists on social media. She emphasized that BTS’s music carries “messages of friendship, peace, and love.”
“I am delighted to welcome BTS, one of the most beloved groups among Mexico’s youth. Music and shared values unite Mexico and South Korea,” Sheinbaum wrote.
The BTS members also greeted more than 50,000 fans gathered at Zócalo Square together with the president from the balcony of the National Palace. The group waved to fans and recorded the moment on their phones, while leader RM delivered a short speech that was met with loud applause.
According to reports, in January this year Sheinbaum became one of the first world leaders to request additional concerts as part of BTS’s large-scale ARIRANG tour. She reportedly sent a letter to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, and the request was approved.
BTS concerts will take place on May 7, 9, and 10 at Estadio GNP Seguros.
Earlier, BTS members also became the cover stars of the May issue of Rolling Stone magazine. During the interview, they spoke about songs that were not included in their fifth studio album, ARIRANG.
