Bishimbayev’s cousin released early under an amnesty
In Kazakhstan, Bakhytzhan Bayzhanov, who had been sentenced to four years in prison in connection with the murder case of Saltanat Nukenova, has been released early under an amnesty.
The court took into account that just over three months remained on his sentence and ordered his immediate release. The decision was announced by Bayzhanov’s lawyer.
As a reminder, Saltanat Nukenova was killed on November 9, 2023, at the BAU restaurant in Astana. The court found her husband, former Kazakh Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, guilty of murder and sentenced him to 24 years in prison. Bayzhanov was found guilty of concealing the crime and was sentenced to four years' imprisonment.
