A photo of an Iberian lynx playing with its prey has won the prestigious People's Choice Award in the 2026 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
The photo shows the lynx standing on its hind legs, seemingly playing with a rodent with its paw. But it's one of the most intense moments of the hunt.
The winning shot was taken by Austrian photographer Josef Stefan. He took the photo after 3 days of stealthy observation in Spain. More than 85,000 people voted in the competition, and 24 of the more than 60,000 photos made it to the finals.
