The Belgian government plans to hand over several F-16 fighters to Ukraine in 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Defense Ludivin Dedonder on RTL TV.
According to him, Belgium will also continue to train Ukrainian pilots on its territory, in Denmark and possibly in another EU country. In addition, the Belgian government offers to provide service for the entire fleet of F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
Dedonder made a statement about this before the meeting of the NATO defense ministers in Brussels and the meeting of the contact group on the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
On the morning of October 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Brussels on an unannounced visit. He will attend the meeting of NATO defense ministers.
In August, the Netherlands and Denmark announced that they would transfer more than 60 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine after completing training for Ukrainian pilots. Norway also promised planes to Kiev.
