Behruz Karimov joins Swiss club

19-year-old Uzbekistan national team and Surkhon defender Behruz Karimov will continue his career at Swiss club Lugano. Karimov underwent a medical examination in Tashkent and signed a contract with Lugano. After obtaining the visa required to play in Switzerland, he will join his new team.

Lugano is one of the historic clubs competing in the Swiss Super League. The club finished last season in third place and earned the right to compete in the Conference League.

Behruz Karimov began his football career at the Odil Junior Academy. At the 2026 World Cup, he played for Uzbekistan in matches against Portugal and Colombia. Following his strong performances at the World Cup, several European clubs expressed interest in him.
