Yesterday, in the Champions League, Galatasaray hosted Barcelona, who had remained unbeaten this season. The home side even came close to scoring several goals in the first half. However, the opening goal came from young Russian talent Aleksey Batrakov.
Following his goal, Russian media outlets shared a photo of Batrakov from his previous encounter with the Catalan side.
Back in 2019, when he was just 14 years old, Aleksey Batrakov failed to convert a penalty while playing for Lokomotiv against Barcelona in the UTLC Cup tournament.
Seven years later, he found the back of the net against the Catalans in a competitive match, this time wearing the Galatasaray shirt. The goal against a team that had once left him with a painful memory was no longer an unfulfilled dream.
Even Hansi Flick had praised him before the match, saying: “After the last game, I have to say that he is a fantastic player. If you are young and talented, why shouldn’t you dream? You have to try everything.”
