Bashkir musical group Ay Yola has been included in the first round of voting for the Grammy Awards. The band's album “Ural Batyr” and song “Aihylyu” have been placed on the ballot for consideration for the prestigious music awards.
The group announced the news on its official Telegram channel.
The album “Ural Batyr” is being considered in the Best Global Music Album category, while the song “Aihylyu” is competing for a nomination in the Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals category.
“Ural Batyr” is Ay Yola's debut concept album, inspired by the ancient Bashkir epic “Ural Batyr.” The album combines traditional Bashkir musical instruments with modern electronic music.
The song “Aihylyu” tells the story of the daughter of the Moon and Samrau, the king of birds, a character from the Bashkir epic. The composition explores themes of the struggle between good and evil, loyalty, and the importance of choosing one's own path in life.
The band members regard this achievement as an important opportunity to promote Bashkir national music and culture on the international stage.
It is worth noting that inclusion in the first round of Grammy voting does not constitute an official nomination. At this stage, members of the Recording Academy vote to determine which submissions will receive nominations.
This year's first-round voting takes place from October 12 to 22. The official nominees will be announced on November 16.
The 69th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.
