Bank employee who killed client and dumped his body in a canal sentenced to 18 years in prison

A bank employee in Fergana has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for killing a 28-year-old client in order to take possession of his $5,700.

The incident occurred on March 30. The client had come to a bank in Kokand to purchase a car. After learning that the man had $5,700 with him, the bank employee planned to steal the money.

He gained the client's trust and, under various pretexts, lured him outside and got him into a Tracker vehicle he was driving. He then took the man to a deserted rural road and stabbed him more than 20 times. The victim died at the scene.

Afterwards, the bank employee placed the body in his car, returned to the bank and continued working until the end of his shift. In the evening, in an attempt to conceal the crime, he dumped the body into the Big Fergana Canal. The victim's body was found six days later.

According to the verdict of the Kokand City Criminal Court, the bank employee was sentenced to 18 years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a general-regime correctional colony.

The court also ordered him to compensate the legal representative of the deceased for the material and moral damages caused.
