Azerbaijani sportswoman wins London tournament

Member of the Azerbaijani rowing team Diana Dimchenko became the winner of the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta, organized in London.

Report was told in the Federation that in the tournament the athlete showed the highest result in the Olympic system in her group among 20 participants.

Having successfully passed the qualifying stages, Dimchenko became a rival of the Polish athlete Magdalena Wielichko in the final swim.

Dimchenko, who covered the distance in 8 minutes 58 seconds, became the winner of the competition and was awarded an honorary prize.

Note that the Henley Royal Regatta, held since 1839, is considered one of the most prestigious competitions of the International Rowing Federation. In the tournament, which lasts 5 days, rowing athletes compete at a distance of 2112 meters, and not at 2000, as in the current standards.
