Another distortion of the essence of a number of issues, made by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan during an interview with the Public Television, is unacceptable, as well as Armenia's attempts to evade its obligations, cause confusion both among the international community and in the Armenian society.

Report informs, this is stated in the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the statements voiced by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan in an interview with his country's Public Television on June 4.

First of all, in connection with the statements about the basis on which the delimitation process will be carried out, we note that, according to the statements following the results of the Prague and Sochi meetings, the delimitation should be carried out on the basis of mutual recognition of territorial integrity and sovereignty. In general, references in these statements to the UN Charter and the Declaration of Alma-Ata are made in the context of the principles mentioned. The Armenian side is well aware that no agreement was reached at either meeting on delimitation based on any map.

Unlike Armenia, the process of delimitation that Azerbaijan has so far carried out with some of its neighbors has been carried out in accordance with international practice, not on the basis of a specially chosen map, but on the basis of the analysis and consideration of all documents of legal significance. The application of this practice is also possible with Armenia. In this context, it would be more useful for the Armenian side to start work on delimitation than to insist on the 1975 map. Do not forget that it was Armenia that for a long time did not respond to any of our country's proposals on the delimitation of borders after the Patriotic War of 2020.

Armenia, which has kept Azerbaijani territories under occupation for almost 30 years, still occupies 8 Azerbaijani villages, contrary to the written and oral agreements reached, has not completely withdrawn its forces from Azerbaijani territory, under various pretexts is delaying the return of 8 villages to Azerbaijan, and also continues military provocations, while accusing Azerbaijan of aggression against Armenia, which has no basis.

Everyone remembers Armen Grigoryan's last year's statement that, contrary to the tripartite statement, the Armenian armed forces will be withdrawn from our territory in September. With this statement, he confirmed the fact of ongoing acts of aggression against Azerbaijan. In this context, Armenia's populist declaration of commitment to the peace process is completely devoid of logic.

Armen Grigoryan's statements during an interview that allegedly Azerbaijan promised to release 10 detained Armenians actually shows Armenia's intention to hide its actions, such as ignoring international humanitarian law and the principles of humanism, as well as not showing reciprocity regarding confidence-building measures in in the form of the immediate return by our side of more than 10 Armenian soldiers who got lost and crossed the border.

The Armenian side, contrary to paragraph 9 of the tripartite Statement, has not yet restored transport communications between the western regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, under various pretexts, is delaying the process, instead of ensuring the construction of new transport communications connecting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the western regions of Azerbaijan, creates conditions for political controversy, which is a clear example of Armenia's obstruction of this process.

It is laughable that an Armenian official, who cannot accept the fact that during the day dozens of Armenian residents, following the relevant procedures, freely cross the border in both directions through the Lachin border checkpoint, claims the closure of the Lachin road. At the same time, an immediate cessation of interference in the issue of the reintegration of Armenian residents would be an indicator that Armenia respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, not in words, but in deeds.

An Armenian official's statement that his country, instead of advancing the peace process in the region, has entered a new era of weaponization demonstrates that this country has not yet learned the lessons of history.

We remind the Armenian side, which, by misinterpreting the agreements reached, wants to evade its obligations, that this destructive activity not only does not serve to restore peace in the region, but is primarily directed against Armenia.
