In the fifth round of the World Cup, the opponent of the Azerbaijani chess player will be Saleh Salem (UAE). The first batch will take place tomorrow, August 12.
Recall that in the 1/32 finals of the competition, Nijat Abasov sensationally beat a chess player from the top ten of the world ranking Anish Giri.
He is the only Azerbaijani chess player who continues to play at the World Cup, other representatives of the republic, including Shakhriyar Mammadyarov and Teymur Radjabov, dropped out of the fight.
