As part of the XVII European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), Slovenian Maribor hosted individual judo competitions on July 25-28.
According to Report, Azerbaijan was represented at the tournament by 8 guys and 4 girls in 12 weight categories. In the individual competition, our judoists won a total of 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.
On the first day of the tournament, Nihad Mamishov won bronze in the -50 kg weight category, and Aykhan Mirzazade - in the -55 kg category.
On the second day of the competition, Vusala Gadzhieva (-48 kg) and Khadija Gadashova (-52 kg) won the gold medals of the tournament, defeating all their rivals. In competitions among young men, Mukhammed Musaev (-60 kg) and Jasur Ibadly (-66 kg) took bronze medals.
Suleyman Shukurov added another medal to the Azerbaijani team in the weight category up to 73 kg, he lost to his opponent in the final match and took EYOF silver.
On the last day of individual performances, Aslan Kotsoev (-90 kg) won the gold medal, and Ramazan Akhmedov (+90 kg) won the silver medal.
Note that EYOF team competitions will take place today. The Azerbaijani national team will be represented by four girls and six boys.
