Currently, Azerbaijan has four Olympic licenses - one in athletics and shooting, and two in boxing.
Azerbaijani athlete Anna Skidan won another ticket for the country to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
She managed to achieve this during the World Championships in Athletics, which is taking place these days in Budapest (Hungary). Athlete specializing in hammer throwing, in her best attempt in qualifying, threw a projectile at 77.10 meters, thanks to which she fulfilled the license standard. In addition, Skidan updated her personal record and the record of Azerbaijan.
It is worth noting that Skidan is a two-time champion of the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 and 2021, the winner of the World Universiade 2015. The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be the third of her career. Previously, she performed at the 2012 Games in London as part of the Ukrainian team and at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro for Azerbaijan. In both cases, she failed to win medals.
Currently, Azerbaijan has four tickets to the 2024 Olympics. Earlier, Olympic licenses were won by Ruslan Lunev (shooting) and boxers Murad Allahverdiev (80 kg) and Magomed Abdullayev (over 92 kg).
