Attending Driving Schools No Longer Mandatory to Obtain a License in Uzbekistan

According to a new government decree, starting from January 1, 2026, citizens in Uzbekistan will no longer be required to attend driving schools to obtain an A1 category license for mopeds and scooters.

Individuals will be allowed to prepare independently and directly take the theoretical and practical driving exams.

The theory test will include 20 questions, and candidates must answer at least 16 correctly to pass.

From February 1, 2026, the same rule will apply to A and B categories — the theoretical part can be studied independently, but practical training will remain mandatory.

Additionally, a special procedure will be introduced for individuals who have previously been deprived of their driving license and wish to retake the exam.

This reform aims to simplify the licensing process and reduce both time and financial costs for citizens.
