In India, 17 workers were killed when a railway bridge under construction collapsed in the Mizoram state near the Aijal mountains. This was reported by DW, referring to the local government. "Today, the bridge over which the railway is passing collapsed in Sairang near Aijal. At least 17 workers died: rescue operations are ongoing," said the state's chief minister. According to the police, the number of victims may be higher, as not all bodies have been recovered from the rubble. There were 35-40 people at the construction site when the bridge collapsed.
