Area of ​​intensive orchards in Karakalpakstan to reach 10,000 hectares

During his visit to the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the industrialized intensive orchard belonging to the "ADM Agro" enterprise in the Kegeyli district.
It is reported that an orchard covering 330 hectares was established as part of a project worth 55 billion soums. Currently, 250,000 black plum saplings of US-bred varieties have been planted on 69 hectares, creating 100 permanent jobs for the local population.
Drip irrigation and closed drainage systems have also been implemented in the area, resulting in water savings of up to 60 percent. Tomatoes have been planted between the trees, with plans to harvest an average of 40–45 tons per hectare.
Facilities for drying and processing the fruit grown in the orchard are available, and contracts have been signed to export the produce to China, South Korea, and Russia.
Plans are in place to replicate this experience in other parts of Karakalpakstan, expanding the total area of ​​intensive orchards to 10,000 hectares and creating 40,000 permanent and seasonal jobs.
At the conclusion of the visit, farmers expressed their gratitude to the Head of State for the constant attention being paid to the development of Karakalpakstan.
