Apple Pay and Google Pay to be launched in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan plans to introduce Apple Pay and Google Pay payment systems. This project was announced during a meeting with US companies and financial institutions during Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Washington.
According to the plan, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Digital Technologies and the Tourism Committee will negotiate with international payment companies and connect them to Uzbek banking services and payment systems. If necessary, national legislation will be updated.
It is also planned to create a Digital Academy and a network of startup hubs in the country, and the US DFC and Eximbank will be involved in financing the projects.
