An important document on the introduction of the Pan-Turkic alphabet was approved

The 4th meeting of the Commission on the Pan-Turkic Alphabet was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, in cooperation with the Turkic Academy and the Turkic Language Society. The meeting approved the “Implementation Guidelines” and its variants, which determine the procedure for introducing the 34-letter Pan-Turkic alphabet into practice, adopted in Baku in September of this year. 

At the opening of the event, Professor Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, attended and noted that the project is becoming increasingly relevant in academic circles, educational institutions and the general public. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, as well as language policy experts from observer states, also attended the meeting.

It is noted that the meeting adopted the document “Recommended Guidelines on the Use of the Pan-Turkic Alphabet”. The alphabet variants for the Kazakh and Kyrgyz languages, prepared on the basis of this document, have also been officially approved. According to experts, this document will serve as the main methodological guide in the process of practical implementation of the alphabet in the Turkic countries based on a unified approach.
